We have two classes for adults who want to learn Russian and be introduced to the Russian culture - beginners and more advanced levels. Lessons are reflecting students' individual needs (as much as practically possible) and are conducted in a small group setting (up to 10 students).
In the beginners group students learn alphabet and start practicing basic reading and writing. They will be introduced to the main grammar rules and everyday vocabulary of Russian speakers.
Both programmes are based on specialist textbooks that follows the methods of teaching Russian to foreign students and includes both written and oral exercises. The aim of the courses is to promote learning of all aspects of the language and to provide opportunities for practice and socialising with native speakers. Students will be given regular homework to support their learning.
Course tutors are Tatiana House and Svetlana Oliver - both are very experienced teachers and have been working with adults and children for many years.
The textbooks will need to be purchased and students will need to supply their own notepads, pens and pencils. Otherwise all we need from you is your active participation, patience and willingness to learn!
Lessons take place on Saturdays at 12:00-13:00. The fee is £7.00 per lesson and payable in advance for all weeks of the current term (exact dates to be advised). Our School follows the academic schedule of Brighton and Hove schools and is open term-times only.
We also organise social meetings and events for adults. Last spring we invited our students to a workshop of traditional Russian dance and music - it was such fun!
