Sussex Russian Centre Kalinka and the Brighton & Hove and London Russian Choirs would like to invite you to this special event dedicated to their 10th anniversary.
Both organisations were formed in December 2008 and have grown and developed since then. The Choir has won awards in the past - during its latest participation at the 9th International Russian Song Contest in London it was presented with the joint First Prize in the Ensembles section. At the event you will enjoy performances of traditional folk and lyrical songs, classical and solo pieces. Polina Shepherd, the Choir leader and a world-known soloist herself, will welcome you to the world of Russian music by presenting each song. The concert will include an interval and the event will conclude at about 15:30.
SRC Kalinka is a community organisation supporting the development of the Russian language and culture within Sussex. Its main activities include language lessons for children and adults, running of the cultural events and promoting opportunities within Russian-speaking community.
You will also be invited to browse a variety of arts and crafts stalls, as well as an opportunity to buy some food and refreshments. The stalls will include:
Fox & Honeys - honey products and deserts
Moon Made - quality wooden and handmade gifts
Evie Brighton Prints - home-made prints and cards
as well as other stall holders with Russian dolls, bowls, cards, Christmas decorations, chocolates and cakes.
The Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Cllr Dee Simson will attend the event to share our celebration. Programme also includes cutting of the celebratory cakes as the highlight of the afternoon.
